Ikal Mayang is a storytelling movement to increase the share of women voices and to encourage more people to tell their stories. Represented in shortfilms format, the movement has grown into a role model festival & conference as well as storytelling and filmmaking workshop nationwide.
Initiated in 2012, the Ikal Mayang movement has made 49 short films and in 2016, the platform is adding 16 more films to its catalogue. Listed as one of the best things that happened in 2013 by Astro Awani, the Ikal Mayang short films have made its international premiere in the 18th Busan International Film Festival and have made its presence in 8 countries including Indonesia, Thailand, the Phillippines, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, United States of America and of course, Malaysia.
